Check out the nice interview with Dr. John Vanston entitled  “Mini Matters–an Interview with John Vanston of Technology Futures on Looking for ‘MiniTrends” by Rick Docksai for The World Future Society’s The Futurist. In the article John stresses the importance of looking for  minitrends, emerging trends that will soon become important, but are not yet generally recognized, vs. megatrends, which are so large, they are often difficult for all but the largest companies to take advantage of. Minitrends, on the other hand, offer great opportunities to those that are smart and perceptive enough to discover and take advantage of them.

John also discusses how the focus of media and futurists are evolving in fundamental ways.
